"Nestes trabalhos examino a relacao entre as joias e a memoria; revejo o papel da 'sentimental jewellery', como as joias de luto, por exemplo. As joias, como expressao material de memorias, de experiencias e emocoes, e de vinculos afetivos, transformam o intangivel em algo tangivel. Assim como os souvenirs, que muitas vezes nao sao importantes em si como objetos, e sim pela maneira em que desencadeiam memorias. Nesse sentido, os souvenirs nao sao na verdade objetos, mas fragmentos, traços de experiencias vividas. A sombra e uma espécie de traço que, apesar de fugaz, sempre tem uma relacao com o real e o presente. O 'Souvenir' de 2007 foi uma tentativa de expressar o traço imaterial da memoria."

Still talking about the theme of our next Creative Spa, we show in this post the work of the brazilian artist living in London, Dionéia Rocha Watt :
"'Souvenir' (2007) was made as part of my investigation of the relationship between jewellery and memory, which included an examination of sentimental jewellery, such as mourning jewellery. Jewellery, as a material expression of memories, experiences and emotions, and of personal relationships, transforms what is intangible into tangible. As does the souvenir, which quite often is not a special object, but which becomes so for its role in triggering memories. In this sense, souvenirs are not really objects, but fragments or traces of of lived experiences. The shadow is a kind of trace that despite being transient, has always a relationship to the real and the present. 'Souvenir' was an attempt to express the inmaterial trace of memory."
